How it works

How our yes or no tarot reading works

A yes or no tarot reading uses one card. Each card in the deck has a traditional lean, and we have written it down for all 78 so the answers are consistent: cards of growth, success and connection lean yes; cards of loss, conflict or exhaustion lean no; and cards of waiting, uncertainty or inner work answer not yet, which usually means you need more time or information before deciding.

In our deck, 47 cards lean yes, 18 say not yet and 13 lean no. When a card is drawn reversed, its answer moves one step toward caution: yes becomes not yet, and not yet becomes no.

How to ask a yes or no question

Keep it simple and about you. “Should I take the class?” works better than “Will they text me back?”, because the card can speak to your choice but not to someone else’s mind. Ask once, then read the card’s meaning as well as the answer. The why is often more useful than the yes.

Yes
The card favors going ahead, usually with a note on how.
Not yet
Wait, gather information, or let something settle first.
No
The card counsels against it, or shows a cost worth weighing.

Questions

Yes or no tarot questions

How does yes or no tarot work?

You hold a clear question in mind and draw one card. Each card in the deck leans toward yes, no or not yet, following the conventions most tarot readers use: cards of growth and success lean yes, cards of loss or conflict lean no, and cards of waiting or uncertainty say not yet. A reversed card leans one step further toward caution.

What kind of question works best?

A question about your own choices, phrased simply: “Should I apply for this job?” rather than “Will they call me?” Tarot is a tool for reflection, so the most useful answers are about what you can do.

Is my question saved?

No. Your question is shown back to you on the result page and is never stored, logged or sent anywhere.

Is this a real draw?

Yes. Each card is chosen on our server with a secure random draw at the moment you ask, from all 78 cards of our original deck. Nothing is weighted toward “dramatic” cards. We note which cards were drawn (never your question) to count the three free draws a day, and Premium members can look back over their draws in their account.

How many free draws do I get?

Three per reading each day, for everyone, with or without an account. Premium members draw as often as they like, can turn over one clarifying card after a yes or no or love reading, and keep a history of their draws.

Can I ask the same question again?

You can, but a second draw is a new draw, not a correction of the first. Many readers take the first card as the answer and use the time to think about why it landed the way it did.
